And interesting takes on the digital resume are increasingly popular, with job seekers creating infographic resumes, video resumes and other visual resumes that set them apart from other job applicants.

RainMaker: Giving Social

RainMaker allows your organization to tap into the viral power of Twitter, to receive social and financial donations at the speed of tweets.

By including a few key pieces of information in their tweets, Twitter users are able to donate money from anywhere to any RainMaker-participating organization. And since it’s via Twitter, they are also telling their entire network of followers about their support, and about the cause. How’s that for engaging social networks to build awareness?

RainMaker is everywhere, because Twitter is everywhere

Getting an SMS shortcode for text-message donations is expensive and difficult. But RainMaker allows you to receive mobile- and text-based donations easily and inexpensively! Twitter’s 165+ million users are already tweeting from their mobile phones, using text messages and native mobile applications available for almost every platform. This means RainMaker organizations can now promote the immediate, global and convenient donations made possible only by mobile devices.

Empower your supporters to help you

Each cause gets a profile page on RainMakerApp.com, which shows a summary of the cause, a link to your site for more info, and a progress bar with the real-time status of money donated towards that cause goal. Supporters can also set their own fundraising goal towards your larger goal, and RainMakerApp.com will track and display their progress toward that sub-goal as they promote it through their personal networks.

Build new, lasting relationships

RainMaker doesn’t just help you raise money, it’s a tool to help you build relationships without draining your time and resources. When someone sends a donation to your cause through RainMaker, RainMaker will automatically send a “thank you” response to that person on your behalf. And donors will automatically be added to your Twitter “followers” audience, so you can stay connected long-term and keep them updated on your cause. All without requiring any more time on your part.

Who can use RainMaker?

Almost any organization who wishes to may use RainMaker to accept donations. But it has been specifically designed for the non-profit and social activism world, so during our initial launch phase, we will be primarily approving legally recognized 501(c)3, 501(c)4, and church organizations. After sign-up, each organization will go through a brief manual approval process before its account is activated.

How secure is RainMaker?

RainMaker is as secure as Twitter and PayPal. All authentication is handled using the Twitter login system and PayPal login system, so you never even provide your passwords or payment information to RainMaker. Since this information isn’t on our servers, you don’t have to worry about it being hacked or stolen from RainMaker

How contributions and fees are processed

All donations are processed through PayPal at this time, so to receive donations through RainMaker your organization must have a PayPal account.

When a donor tweets a contribution using RainMaker, their contribution details are sent by RainMaker’s servers to PayPal within a few hours and the funds are transferred directly to your account. All associated PayPal and RainMaker fees are deducted from the donation at that time.

Donated funds move directly from the donor’s account to the organization’s, and are never held in any 3rd party account, so your organization has immediate access to the donated funds through the means normally available to you for access funds at PayPal.

How to setup your organization

Setting up a RainMaker profile for your organization is fast and easy! All you need is an existing Twitter account, and an existing PayPal account.

Once you complete our short organization signup form and attach your Twitter & PayPal accounts, your account will be in a “pending” status, awaiting human review. During this review process we confirm the validity of the organization, account ownership, and contact person. This step is necessary to keep the RainMaker platform safe and trustworthy for everyone, and should usually be completed within 1-5 business days.

To insure a smooth and fast review, please use your organization’s official Twitter & PayPal accounts, and an email address at the organization’s official domain name.

After your organization account is approved, you will be able to start setting up fundraising campaigns and raising money via Twitter right away!
